It’s ShrinersFest time again. The announcement was made at a late-morning news conference Wrednesday at the Hadi Shrine at Walnut and Riverside.
This year’s festival is pledged to the honor of police officer, firefighters and Emergency Medical Service workers.
Chairman Dale Thomas says the organization always trys to feature something new each time. This year, there will be a boxing exhibition match, and the Fire Department will bring back the popular Water Ball Challenge.
The air show is back. Among other attractions are the Black Daggers parachute team. These are members of the U-S Army special forces who specialize in low-deployment parachute jumps for insertion into hostile territory.
They will be joined by an authentic World war II B-25 Mitchell bomber.
As in years past, LST 325 will join the festivities for tours and re-enactments.
Button sales have started a bit early this time around, and they are available now for $10. At the gates, they will be five dollars more.
Also beginning this year you can buy your buttons online.
