Hullabaloo...Hulla Bye-Bye

Just saw this on line...sad news coming out of Louisville and it doesn't involve Rick Pitino or any horses.  But it does involve a cool rock weekend being cancelled.

HullabaLOU Music Festival Canceled For 2011

The HullabaLOU Music Festival has been canceled for 2011. The 2010 festival featured acts like Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney and the Dave Matthews Band, but attendance was disappointing, hurt by the weak economy and bad timing.

Entertainment company Churchill Downs Inc. made the announcement last week after they realized their profits were low and they couldn't afford to put on another show.

"HullabaLOU 2010 was plagued by three consecutive July days with heat indexes exceeding 105 degrees," the company said in an official statement.

The first HullabaLOU festival was held in July at the famed racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky. It also featured Gladys Knight and the Doobie Brothers.

"It has become clear that launching new, upscale entertainment events in the current economy, particularly with the persistently high levels of unemployment, is extremely difficult," said Churchill Downs President and Chief Executive Robert L. Evans.

Churchill Downs Entertainment head Steve Sexton has resigned as a result of the festival's failure.
